The work no scaffold can reach
Certified rope access teams for inspection, repair, blasting and coating on towers, silos, stacks and plant, with the site still running.
Active Rope Access (Active Rope (Pty) Ltd) has delivered industrial rope access and maintenance since 2012. We work from Pretoria, Cape Town and Gaborone for mining, cement, refineries, power generation, food processing and commercial property.
Our teams reach the places that would otherwise need scaffolding or a shutdown. That saves our clients time, cost and downtime, and keeps their plant reliable.
Areas we serve: Pretoria, Johannesburg, Hartbeespoort and Gauteng, Cape Town and the Western Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Gaborone and Botswana, and mine and plant sites across Africa.

Surface preparation and repainting of the signage band at the top of the tower, carried out on rope access.

Two-shift teams cleaned both sides of a multicell silo for a cement producer, with daily diaries and rescue standby.

Sail frames, tower shingles and steelwork restored on rope access while the restaurant kept trading.

Drape mesh and anchors installed on an opencast mine highwall, working entirely on ropes.

Crack repair, preparation and repainting across a multi-storey facade without scaffolding.

Abrasive blasting to bare steel inside a tank, ready for a protective lining system.

Leaking ducting repaired by welding beneath the lining, with the welders working entirely on rope access at height.

A waterproof membrane laid from ridge to eaves by technicians on rope, with no weight carried by the thatch.

Permanent lifelines and anchor points installed and certified so maintenance teams can work safely on the roof.

The landmark windmill at The Windmill Restaurant, Jasmynplaas, Hartbeespoort, needed its sail frames, tower shingles and steelwork restored. Scaffolding would have closed the area around it, so our team did the whole job on ropes while the restaurant kept trading below. We also waterproofed the large thatch roof on the same property, working on rope so no load was carried by the thatch.
We compile site-specific safety files to your client index before mobilising.
Industrial rope access is a way of working at height where trained technicians are suspended on two independent ropes, a working line and a backup line. It lets Active Rope Access inspect, repair, clean and coat silos, towers, stacks, tanks, facades and plant without scaffolding or cranes.
Usually, yes. A rope access team can rig and start work in hours instead of the days needed to erect scaffolding, and the site around the work stays open. That cuts labour, hire costs and plant downtime, especially on short or high jobs.
Active Rope Access works from Pretoria and Cape Town in South Africa and from Gaborone in Botswana. Teams travel to mines, plants and buildings across South Africa, Botswana and the rest of Africa.
Industrial rope access, confined space entry and silo cleaning, abrasive blasting and corrosion protection, non-destructive testing (NDT), anchor point and lifeline installation and certification, welding and fabrication, facade repairs and painting, roof waterproofing and high-level window cleaning.
Yes. Silo, bin and duct cleaning is done by confined space trained teams with rescue standby, working day and night shifts to fit the plant's shutdown or production schedule. Cement, grain, coal and other bulk material silos are covered.
Yes. Active Rope Access designs, installs and certifies permanent roof lifelines and anchor points, including lifelines for solar PV arrays, and carries out annual inspections and recertification.
Active Rope Access is ISO certified, a member of the Institute for Work at Height and the Corrosion Institute of Southern Africa, cidb registered and a B-BBEE Level 1 contributor. All work complies with the OHS Act and the Mine Health and Safety Act.
Yes. Every job starts with a site-specific safety file compiled to the client's index, including method statements, risk assessments, rescue plans and team certificates.
